Mrs Waring has been teaching child development for over 5 years. As a parent and long service teacher she is able to share her experiences and knowledge with our students.
We offer this as a one year course in year 11.
The course looks at the development of the child and studies in-depth
- The importance of family
- Pregnancy and birth
- Diet and health
- The development of the child up the age of 5
- The support available to families.
Students carry out two pieces of course work that constitutes 60% of the final grade. One is a research piece carried out early in the course and the other a more detailed child study.
This course is suitable for pupils who wish to study child development or child care at college. It is also applicable to students who are wanting to work within the teaching profession. There is relevance also for students who wish to pursue a career in health and social care and in fact quite a few of our ex-students have gone onto study midwifery.
