Year 10

Time to choose a context for your GCSE project:
1) Multifunctional Living
2) Teenage Lifestyle
3) Nature and the Environment
Have a long walk around your house, think about things that would make life easier, interview your family about any problem they could think of that needs solving and document it as part of your research.   For instance, I’ve just asked my husband about multifunctional living and he says a piece of furniture that also charges your phone would be useful.  I would like something that washes and dries the pots or a table to hold my laptop which is adjustable for typing and then changes angles for zoom calls etc.  Asking different people will come up with different problems.
I will be seeing you face to face, hopefully in 3 weeks and would like to have set up a powerpoint:
Front page: Name, exam number (if you know it), AQA Design and Technology
Page 1: Chosen context and mind map
Page 2: Interviews for research
Deadline – Friday 3rd July
Email me if you have any questions
Work set 1 June:
Its an exciting day for us DT teachers – The briefs have been released for your GCSE practical.  It is called a Contextual Challenge and your project is called the NEA (Non Exam Assessment).  I have attached the official sheet but basically the project titles are:
1) Multifunctional Living
2) Teenage Lifestyle
3) Nature and the Environment
I would like you to think carefully about which one of these titles you want to pursue, DO NOT get fixated on a specific item to make at this point.  A good starting point would be to do 3 small mind maps with all your thought about what problems need to be solved under that heading. I have emailed you an example.
Email me with any issues, I’m always here to answer questions. Please email me a photo of your mindmaps by Monday 7th June.

All years, just for fun:

I thought this looked great, have a go if you want to, I’d love to see photos if you do.  Mrs W.
