Year 7, 8 and 9
Welcome to Year 7, 8 and 9
At Settlebeck School, we believe education is about much more than what happens in the classroom. Our KS3 Wellbeing & Enrichment Challenge has been designed to encourage students to try new things, build confidence, develop life skills and discover interests that will help them thrive both in school and beyond.
Linked closely to our approach to homework at KS3, the challenge recognises that personal development, wellbeing and character growth are just as important as academic success. Through a wide range of experiences, activities and challenges, students will be encouraged to step outside their comfort zone, explore the world around them, develop healthy habits and make a positive contribution to their community.
Students progress through three challenge levels inspired by Cumbria’s iconic fells:
- Year 7 – Winder (Bronze)
- Year 8 – Helvellyn (Silver)
- Year 9 – Scafell Pike (Gold)
Along the way, students can earn house points for completing activities and reaching milestones, helping their house climb the leaderboard while investing in their own wellbeing and personal growth. Whether it is learning a new skill, taking part in sport, spending time outdoors, volunteering, supporting others or developing future life skills, every challenge completed is a step towards becoming a more confident, resilient and well-rounded young person.
The challenge reflects our school values of Respect, Responsibility and Aspiration, encouraging students to embrace new experiences, make a difference to others and create lasting memories throughout their KS3 journey.
